Who we are
International Correspondence Schools Ltd (ICS Learn) is the
world's most experienced distance learning organisation. We have
been a pioneer in teaching skills and qualifications at a distance
for over 120 years, giving you the opportunity to learn while
earning and to fulfil your ambitions.
Our aim is to make learning as accessible as possible, allowing
you to get the skills, training and qualifications you want, in a
way that lets you decide when, where and how you learn. Whatever
your objectives are, we are here to help, support and guide you
through your journey.
In 1890 we pioneered a new way to learn, allowing people to
study on their own terms, from home, work or anywhere they wanted.
Today, we follow the same principles and use modern technology to
make learning even more effective and convenient for you. Distance
learning does not mean studying alone; we make sure you get all the
help and support you need and our tutors, mentors and course
advisors are here to answer any questions you may have so you never
feel alone. We are proud to have helped over 13 million people to
achieve their goals.
'We believed that every person with a spark of ambition in
their soul, dreams of someday reaching a goal that lies beyond and
above their present circumstances.'
G. Lynn Summer
Creator of ICS advertising in 1923

Our history
We have
been around for some time - 120 years in fact. Since being
established in 1890, we have gone through various incarnations and
currently have our head office in Glasgow, Scotland.
From our early beginnings in the US at the end of the 19th
century, we moved to the UK, and were based in London. Early images
and photos capture fascinating details of how businesses such as
ICS were run during those times.

Naturally we have changed over the years, although we are still
just as committed as ever to giving you the best learning
experience.

It's not just how people learn that has changed, but also
what they learn, as demonstrated by the materials from a previous
Steam Engine course we provided back in 1906. Modules included
Steam Engine Design and Simple and Compound Steam Engines.
As the century progressed, we enrolled our 10 millionth student
worldwide in 1993 and, to date, have helped over 13 million people
get to where they want to be.
Our partners - your guarantee
Obtaining a new qualification or new skills is only worthwhile
if it helps you get where you want to be. The qualifications
obtained through distance learning have the same value as the ones
obtained via traditional education.
We offer accredited qualifications recognised by employers all
over the world, but you get them in the way that suits you. And
don't forget that completing a distance learning course proves to
employers that you are self-motivated and can manage time
effectively.
With over 100 years of experience and 22 awarding body and
higher education institution partnerships, you can be sure of
achieving your ambitions with us.
We have established partnerships with two universities to offer
you a diverse choice of degree courses and learning structures to
suit your particular interests. This means that you will study with
us and the university so you can enjoy all the flexibility we offer
while being awarded the qualification by the university.
Edinburgh Napier University
Edinburgh Napier University is a dynamic, innovative and
forward-looking institution. As one of the largest higher education
institutions in Scotland, it has over 15,000 students from over 100
countries. As the leading provider of nursing in Scotland,
Edinburgh Napier has fully validated our BSc Nursing (top up)
degree giving you the assurance that your qualification will be
respected in the industry.
University of East London
Recognised as one of the UK's leading modern and vibrant
universities, with more than 23,000 students and over 100 years of
experience, UEL aims to instil enthusiasm for new ideas, knowledge
and methods of learning. We offer pre-entry to UEL distance
learning programmes so that, whatever your background or subject
choice, you will begin with a pre-entry unit and the first two
modules of a degree programme (as specified for each course). We'll
send you all the necessary materials and support you with
experienced tutors and mentors to get you off to a flying start.
After these first two modules that you study with us, you'll then
have a wider choice of modules and be supported directly by
UEL.
