Who is it for?

This GCSE in English is for students who did not achieve the grades they wanted whilst at school. Perhaps you may need a better grade to get on to a follow up course or maybe a job you are interested in asking for a minimum grade. Either way with this GCSE in English you’ll master the basics of letter and report writing and you’ll show prospective employers that you are serious about moving forward.

Where can it lead?

Employers increasingly view qualifications as evidence of motivation and commitment, not to mention as a solid foundation on which to build the particular skills of your future chosen career. A GCSE in English is central to gaining a good foothold in the job market and forms a major part of a rounded education.

Assessment

You’ll complete four formative assessments, four coursework assignments and an oral assignment during your GCSE English course. You’ll also sit two exams on completion of your course.

Formative assessments are intended to help both you and your tutor measure your progress through the course, highlighting any areas where revision is necessary. Formative assessments do not, however, count towards your final grade.

Technical requirements/Fees

Students will have to pay an examination fee of £21.80. This is payable to the AQA Examination Board.
