CIPD People Resourcing (Generalist Elective)

Intended to take your expertise in HR management to the next level, this elective course comprises one of  the four modules of the CIPD Professional Development Scheme (PDS). You'll learn the techniques involved in finding the best employees for your organisation, and develop abilities in the personal and professional support that will increase employee satisfaction and retention. As well, you'll learn to anticipate your organisation's employment needs, and develop effective strategies for any resourcing issues. This advanced qualification is intended to prepare you for eventual entry into senior management, and as such will equip you with advanced management and development skills that can be applied to all areas of business.

 

What will I study?

The Changing World of Work and Organisations

  • Examine contemporary issues which shape the nature of organisations and employment. Study the legal framework, considering both legislative and ethical issues in the workplace. Consider the various sources of external information which can assist organisations.

People and Organisations

  • Examine how organisations have embraced new forms of work whilst continuing to meet their obligations to ‘add value’, and consider the resourcing implications of these different forms of work. Study new approaches which turn traditional thinking about the role and purpose of the PR function on its head.

Human Resource Planning

  • Consider how HR planning differs from Manpower Planning. Study the benefits and limitations of HR planning. Examine the different stages of the planning process, and learn how the effectiveness of the HR plan can be measured. Consider the internal and external factors which influence the HR planning process.

Recruitment and Selection

  • Examine the background to recruitment and selection, and consider the principle methods of both recruitment and selection. Study the ways in which organisations can measure the effectiveness of their recruitment and selection strategies.

Optimising Commitment and Performance

  • Examine the different ways in which people can be developed and motivated in order to optimise both their commitment and their contribution to organisational goals. Consider the circumstances under which people leave organizations, and look at how this can be handled positively and fairly.

The Future of People Resourcing

  • Examine recent developments in the field of PR and their implications. Consider likely future developments in the field and the changes that they will likely bring.
