Who is it for?
With its dual emphasis on theory and practice, this course is ideal if you're looking for a qualification that offers a range of career options. You'll want a career that makes a real difference to people's lives, and be prepared to face the challenges and set-backs that invariably accompany a role in this demanding field.
Where can it lead?
With a versatile qualification such as this, you can expect to choose from a diverse array of career paths, such as Health Promotion Officer, Advice Worker, Welfare Officer, Community Development Worker, and Healthcare Manager. Traditionally, the NHS and other public sector organisations would be the major employers, but a growing number of opportunities are also available through private sector companies and charities.
Salary?
Given the variety of roles on offer - from grass roots community work to high level policy development - the range of salaries to be expected is extremely broad. As a guide, however, a graduate could expect a salary range of anywhere between £10,000 to £25,000, depending on the type of work you are undertaking. Further experience and training should lead to a rapid increase in salary.
