Who is it for?
You may be new to the trade and want a thorough grounding in the fundamentals. Alternatively, you may be already working as a plumber and want to demonstrate your experience and knowledge with a formal qualification. Either way, this entry-level course is ideal.
Where can it lead?
Once you have completed your course, you're ready to take on an entry-level plumbing role. With five or more years' experience, you can apply to complete the City and Guilds Level 2 NVQ in Mechanical Engineering Services Plumbing (Domestic) course, the industry-recognised standard in plumbing qualifications.
Salary?
A starting salary for a newly-qualified plumber can range between £16,500 and £21,000. With experience, this can rise to £30,000 a year, while plumbing supervisors can earn up to £35,000. Independent contractors, however, are able to set their own rates and often earn well in excess of these salaries.
Can I apply?
While you don’t need any previous qualifications for this course, industry guidelines recommend that you have at least 4 GCSEs of D or above.
